Trapa Trapa Trails
“I have travelled a lot along Chile, and Tripapawe Antu Track is without any doubt the most magnificent and amazing. You are right in the middle of the Andes Mountains, close to the border with Argentina in places where you are absolutely disconnected with the rest of the country, where you can just enjoy this unique adventure. This experience made me cheerful, happy, with lots of energies and wishing to come back to learn more about the people of our land, who value it with their hearts.”
Macarena Sperry, Ecotourism Professional, Santiago
Travelling by the Tripapawe Antu Track (Where the sun rises), an ancestral path from Trapa Trapa inhabitants, offers the opportunity to experience the transit from the Alto Bio Bio forests to the highland steppe of Antuco, in the Andes, traversing through a remarkable diversity of landscapes.
The trip starts heading north from the community, following Ñirehueco gorge (water from ñirres trees), with beatifull views of Trapa Trapa Valley. The vegetation starts to change slightly, from oak and lenga forests to the highland steppe, a landscape of extensive grasslands and broad views. In this veranada landscape is where the Pewenche culture manifests at its best.
In Lengas de Trapa there is a cozy rustic camp, the ideal place to recover from the trip. It also provides the opportunity to learn first hand about the Pewenche way of life in the mountains, through the stories and traditional food and the company of the local guides.
The path then continuous to the north until getting to Piedra Santa (Sacred Stone), a sacred place for the Pewenche people, and a historic landmark for travelers.
