Pitril community
Our beautiful community is located five kilometres away from Villa Ralco, by the road that follows the Queuco River until the border with Argentina. This is a gravel road, but is in good condition most part of the year so any kind of vehicle can use it. Because of its winding nature, it offers beautiful natural lookouts from where to appreciate the full magnitude of our Ñuke Mapu (Mother Earth). The limits of our communities are the Otúe Stream in the North, the Boquiamargo Stream and Turbio River in the South, the Queuco River in the West and the Veranadas de Nepún in the East. The landscape of our territory is dominated by extended areas of native forests, that include wild hazelnuts trees, oaks, coigües and raulí, and in the highlands, the Araucarias and lengas. Most part of this territory is mountainous, and the Callaqui Volcano is the main peak.
Families are dispersedly distributed in the community, mainly located close to the Queuco Valley or other streams that flow from the mountains. Since immemorial times we have been dedicated to the breeding of goats, sheep, poultry and cows which we allow to graze freely in the mountains. Our Ñañas (women) work on the orchards close to our houses, mainly for self-consumption. This way we have a wide variety of vegetables and fruits, naturally grown and irrigated with spring waters.
We also produce different kinds of handcrafts, mainly made of wool, that are sold in local markets or to tourists. Many families also are beekeepers, and produce honey of excellent quality.
In our community the Koñiñamco – Madihueiñ track is implemented, which present the opportunity of a magnificent experience of immersion in the Pewenche culture, through the different activities it offers you.
Welcome!-
