Trapa-Trapa community
Our community is deep in the Queuco Valley, in the Andes Mountains, at around 45 kilometres from Villa Ralco.
The landscape of our community differs from the communities located in the lower part of the valley, because it is a high mountain landscape. We have higher peaks and less vegetation, even though we do have abundant native forests with a wide variety of species, and of course, the Araucaria forests are the dominant ones in the higher areas. Also, there are many Cóndores in this area, because of the higher altitudes.
Our families, as in the lower communities, are located close to the Queuco Valley or other smaller streams. As Pewenche, when summer arrives, we move to the higher parts of the communities, in search of fresh green grass for our cattle, and to gather the piñón, the seed of the Pewén or Araucaria.
Our family economy is mainly oriented to the breeding of cattle and small agricultural production for self-consumption. In the community you will see many horses, as they are our main transport.
Our community has the Tripapawe Antu track, which follows ancient paths between Alto Bio Bio and the highland steppe of Antuco, an amazing trip through the history and traditions of our people, a unique natural environment in the middle of the Andes Mountains.
Our people will be happy to welcome you and guide you around our lands, and you can be sure it will be an unforgettable experience for everybody.
Peu Kayal!
